I am often asked about bespoke courses and blended learning options, so I have put together a list of the common questions and answers.

What is a bespoke course?

Bespoke courses are written specifically by SafetyNow for your company on any or a range of topics. They are interactive, engaging and very importantly, relevant to your delegates and the company.

Why are bespoke courses a good idea?

Bespoke courses meet legislative requirements of “training employees commensurate to their work activities.” It often means that they are more cost effective as there are no expensive licence requirements to the awarding bodies and the resources can be produced in-house.

Are certificates for bespoke courses issued?

Yes, SafetyNow will issue the certificates of competence. All bespoke courses have an assessment criteria based on your company requirements and guidance by SafetyNow’s advice.

How does SafetyNow ensure the bespoke course is relevant to the organisation?

SafetyNow have discussions with your management to understand your aims and objectives of the course/s. Very often we spend time with your organisation shadowing various employees and gaining their input before the course is written.

What is blended learning?

E-learning courses are very often used as a starting point for your delegates to complete in their own time before the actual face to face learning session. The e-learning courses are accredited to various awarding bodies but are generic. This ensures that everyone is at the same level before the bespoke course is delivered and tailored to your organisation.

For example, SafetyNow delivers a blended Supervising Safely course to a large housing organisation in Yorkshire. All delegates complete the Working Safely e-learning course before attending the 1 day face to face course which has been specifically written around the supervisors role in that organisation.

Essentially it means that the delegates only have to spend 1 day away from their workplace instead of 2 and they gain certificates from SafetyNow, RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) and IIRSM (International Institute of Risk and Safety Management)

What topics are available for bespoke /blended learning courses?

Virtually any health and safety /food safety topic is suitable for a bespoke course.

Here are a few:

  • Working at Height,
  • Risk Assessment,
  • Fire Marshals/Wardens
  • Manual Handling
  • Lone Working,
  • COSHH (control of substances hazardous to health)
  • DSE (display screen equipment)
  • Legionnaires
  • Food Safety Levels 1. 2 and Supervising Food Safety Level 3
  • HACCP, (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point)
  • Food Allergens.

See here for the full range of options.

What does it cost?

The bespoke courses are charged out at a daily rate and up to 20 delegates can be put onto a course at any one time as long as the training facilities are suitable for that number. SafetyNow recommend around 12 to 15 delegates to gain the maximum benefit.

There is a small additional cost for SafetyNow certificates and any resources that are provided such as booklets.

If you decide to go down the blended learning route, then the e-learning courses are offered at a substantial discount from the advertised prices on the website.

Can we have more than 1 course on a day?

Yes, some of the bespoke course are suitable for half day learning and we will recommend which courses are best for your organisation. In this way you receive 2 courses for the price of 1 as both courses will be delivered on the same day.
