Part 1

Pre course requirements. (Around 2 hours online learning)

Completion of e-learning Working Safely ( accredited by RoSPA and IIRSM). The certificates are issued automatically on the successful completion of the course.

Part 2

Course duration: 1 day

Course Content:

  1. Employees responsibilities
  2. Hazards, risks and controls
  3. Inspections
  4. Reporting
  5. Assessment

The course will be written specifically for the company . The course will be developed for the maximum impact for culture change. Below is an example of the sort of topics that could be included but will be guided by your requirements.

The course will be delivered with a minimum of PowerPoint slides and mainly by engaging the employees using activities and discussions.

  1. Group discussion – what happens when things go wrong: unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
  2. Walk around the production areas - hazard spotting (moving vehicles, hazardous substances, manual handling, WRULD, noise, entanglement in machinery, fire, pallet trucks (and anything else the business feels are specific hazards))
  3. Poster designing for controlling risks
  4. Group activities – writing and conducting “user check” inspections
  5. Discussion – why report incidents ie the benefits
  6. The assessment will be a commitment statement from each delegate based on one area that they feel they can improve the health and safety culture.

Each delegate will be provided with:

  1. Level 1 H&S booklet
  2. Copy of their commitment statement
  3. Certificate of course completion

The criteria for passing the course is based on the delegates level of participation and the suitability of their commitment statement.
