Founder Moira Gelman, explains why health and safety is so important.

“As you would expect from the very nature of my business, I am passionate about ensuring companies are fully aware and comply with their legal requirements on health and safety. I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that by implementing some of my recommendations we could quite literally save lives.

I do believe that health and safety is often overlooked, especially by SME’s, and it’s only when an incident occurs that I am called in to help or provide training. A case of shutting the gate after the horse has bolted I’m afraid!

It may seem like a chore but I can’t stress enough how important it is to ensure you’re up to date and aware of all health and safety requirements – that is why I often add cautionary tales to my website and newsletter, not to scaremonger as such, but more to demonstrate how failing to comply can, and does, lead to tragic incidents and prosecutions.”

Consultancy

Moira also provides health and safety consultancy. “I provide what I call my ‘Sensible Offer’ whereby I will provide a 1 day health and safety inspection and report, but no charge will be made for this report if the company chooses to implement the recommendations I have made, using SafetyNow.

These recommendations will obviously depend on the company but will typically include raising health and safety legislative documentation, undertaking risk assessments, quality and environmental management system audits and compilation and maintenance of legal registers. We are very thorough!”
